It all began when an adorable cat just wandered in and made himself at home in our small rented holiday cottage on the Sicilian northern coastline! We fed him and the very next morning found what we assumed to be his brother and sister waiting at the front door! They immediately moved in, and took over, walking around and sleeping on the sofa as if they had always lived there! Before we knew it, we ended up with nine lovely cats! They were literally everywhere; small, beautiful, clean, scruffy, friendly and always hungry! They followed us around everywhere, even in the morning when we had to go to the nearby village to buy fresh drinking water. Mieke's lap was their favourite resting place, and Ed started making sketches and portraits of this growing Sicilian cat family. We started giving them names, and soon began pondering how they related to each other, and how their friends would lead their lives in the alleys of the beautiful city of Palermo... Catissimo is our discovery of their wonderful world…
